Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Iron Series! Any lifeguard or vet can participate in the MAIS.
The Enduro is on Saturday July 30th and it will be designed to last 45 (+/-) minutes and will be a sure test of endurance. We will use an M-shape-course. You will complete the course twice. Handlers & hydration support will be needed. Female Taplin, Female Multi-sport & Ironwoman will race 5:30-6:30PM. The Course will be cleared for the start of the Men. Multi-sport will do a double paddle.
*'What is a Triple Sprint?'
Within the KNGIS in Australia, this is typically called the 'Eliminator.' MAIS tweaked this version so that everyone will race a similar sprint iron course that we'd use within USLA & International Lifesaving races. We will alternate 3X (Female/Male) so the rest period will be about 20 minutes. Again, Female (Taplin-Multisport-Iron) will race together (same for Males.) Multisporters will add a 2nd board leg in place of the surfski leg.
*Can we race alternate equipment such as a sea kayak, stock prone boards & unlimited distance crafts?
We will take each case 1 on 1. While we wouldn't mind a Taplin Team racing some unlimited crafts, you would not be eligible for an award. If a 'Masters' aged (40+) lifeguard wants to paddle an unlimited craft for 'non points or placing,' we say 'rung what you brung.' Now, if you want place or collect points, you must race Lifesaving Spec board & ski. We will not allow SUP's or Rowing crafts.
100% of the race series proceeds will be donated to The Sarcoma Alliance on behalf of Ocean of Hope.
Dedicated to the sea of people affected by cancer!
