Let's kick of 2021 with a 6 mile race to get our bodies moving! Even though we won't get the thrill of chasing our favorite competitor, we can see their names again and hope that our placement is as good, or better, than last year. While Wasabi won't be hosting a formal race course, we encourage folks to run a course with 3-6 of their fellow paddlers to get a little competitive spirit. As always, we expect all racers to abide by the safety guidelines in their state and to practice social distancing to keep us all safe!
Paddlers are required to wear a leash, PFD, and have a whistle on their boat. If you're paddling with others, we ask for NO DRAFTING and that 30 ft distance between boats, fore and aft, be maintained. 6 ft distance side to side should be maintained, including during the start. This is based on research that slipstreams increase airborne exposure to COVID.

Paddlers may choose their race course, which should have at least 1 turn (ie not 100% downwind/downstream). Paddlers should set a garmin to 6 miles. To enter race, please submit a photo of your garmin with the distance, time, and date, along with your first/last name and boat # to kate.kauffman.lpc@gmail.com, or 971-235-1562 by 2pm 1/9/21.
