The 9th annual Sakonnet River Race will be held on June 4, 2016. Hosted by Wesley Echols, this 13 mile race on Rhode Island's Sakonnet River (actually a large ocean bay) is the first open-water race of the New England season. Although primarily for surfskis, outrigger canoes and other kayaks are welcome to participate.
Contact RaceThere is a $25 registration fee for this race to cover facility costs and lunch. You must register prior to race day unless you receive express permission from Wesley. No awards will be given, but this race is part of both the SurfskiRacing.com and New England Surfski point series. Lunch will be provided after the race.
Here's a link to the course map. Paddlers will meet at McCorrie Point, located at the end of McCorrie Lane in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
