THE 9th ANNUAL BLUE WATER PADDLE RACE has gone virtual!
We waited as long as we could to make the call and here it is. The Sonoma Coast Surfrider Bluewater Paddle Race is going virtual! The theme is, Whatever Floats Your Goat. Get your whole family involved.Sign up for a mile, go for three, or go whole hog and do a 6 mile course. All we ask is get a few buoy turns (at least two) in and send in the numbers. Yahoo! But that’s not all! No way. Not from the race known for its Pet Division.
Yes, the famous Pet Division is alive. Grab your goat, gopher, cat, wallaby, or aardvark and show us what you can do. Okay, dogs included too. Send us a LESS THAN ONE MINUTE video and we’ll put them all together and make you famous.
Be creative, have fun, play hard.
How to do it:
- Sign up for your race(s). You can do multiple races on multiple crafts since it’s virtual. There is a prize for most categories raced in! You must do a distance race to do the Pet Race.
- Grab your friends, family, and pets and head to your favorite body of water. Safety and social distancing still apply!
- Bring a timer and a video camera.
- Charge it. Show us your buoy turns (can be anything from a bridge pillar to the Google yacht).
- For the Pet Division, there is no actual course length so just get out and paddle and put it in a video. Make it fun. No pet, no problem. Throw your child, or your neighbor’s, on the front and go.
- Submit your race documentation (Garmin, Strava, etc) times and video between September 26 and October 25, 2020 5pm PST.
- A panel of esteemed judges and skilled accountants will analyze the results.
- Remember to have fun. This is our favorite family race and we miss seeing you this year.
