The Loop is 11.25 mile jaunt around Coronado Island.
Paddlers start in the Ocean of the end of the Coronado Shores (Avenida Lunar) and head west 3 miles to the last Jetty marker of Zuniga Jetty. There, paddlers take a hard right hand turn around the end of the jetty and head into the entrance of San Diego Bay. The next 5 miles wraps North Island Navel Air Station passing the airfield, helicopter field and finally the aircraft carriers. The next 2.5 miles takes you past the Coronado landing, Coronado Marriott, Tide Lands Park and under the Coronado bridge. From here the last 1 mile is a straight shot along the Coronado Gold Course to the finish next the Coronado boat launch.
If unforeseen circumstances hinder our ability to compete on The Loop course (water pollution, fog, extra large surf) we will move to the our back up course aka "The Lap". The Lap is a out and back 10.25 mile course in the San Diego Bay. The tide is your enemy the first half and your friend on the way home.
