Start at the pier by the boat ramp at Pope's Landing.
Go out the river to the Kernwood Bridge (approx 1.7 miles), go through the center span or any span to the right of center.
Continue across the open bay to the combined Beverly-Salem railroad and car road bridges (approx 2.3 miles from the start), go through any span to the left of the dual channel spans of the railroad bridge and then turn counter-clockwise around the nearest support of the road bridge, continuing back under the bridges and back into the river towards the start.
Stay right, and about a third of the way back to the Kernwood Bridge, take a right down the Bass River towards the Bridge Street Bridge (approx 0.9 miles from the Beverly-Salem Bridges). Just before the bridge, you'll see two square blue mooring buoys. Turn clockwise on the first and return out the Bass River on the left side.
Go back to the left to the Beverly-Salem Bridges, make a clockwise turn on the same support as before and return under the bridges back into the river (again avoiding the dual channel spans).
Proceed straight back to the Kernwood Bridge, passing through the center span or any span to the left of center.
Return (after passing the golf course on the left, favor the right side of the river) back to the start. You are finished when you pass the front edge of the starting pier.
