It's important to note that this section of the river can have a lot of boat traffic including in the no wake channel.  It is mandatory to follow the channel out to the river as cutting the corner will result in grounding if the water is near normal summer level.   If the normal river markers are not in place, a temporary marker will be added.   Counter clockwise around the island.  Stay in the 1/3 of the river close to the island when traveling up river, there is a stone jetty from an old cable crossing (sign on shore) underwater that traps deadheads.     There will be an orange turn bouy in the middle of the river about .5 miles north of the island.
