It's important to note that this section of the river can have a lot of boat traffic including in the no wake channel.  It is mandatory to follow the channel out to the river as cutting the corner will result in grounding if the water is near normal summer level and the safety boat cannot reach this area.   If the normal river markers are not in place, a temporary marker will be added.   Head upstream against the left bank.   There will be an orange turn bouy about 1/2 mile north of the island.
