World Paddle Association (WPA) Hawaii Regional Championships

for Stand Up and Prone Paddlers

4.5 Downwinder from Hawaii Kai to Kahala - Jungle Rules

All paddlers compete for awards for the top 3 in each division. Prize Money for 2016 SUP Series points winners! $100/$75/$50 for top 3 male and female SUP racers in the 14' class and $100 for top male and female prone racers in the stock class. Race #2 is August 13th.

Race entry includes a paddle shirt, lunch. Enter online here for $45 or in person at Blue Planet. You can also beach enter on race day for $5 additional.

The race a beach start in front of Marshall's, jungle rules to the finish line so you may go inside or outside the reef, then finish at the outermost piling in the water off Kahala (Waialae Beach Park).  For race information call 255-6255.


12 noon to 1 pm check in and beach entries at the small parking area on the west (Ewa) side of the bath hose near the M2O finish

Race Course and Safety Recommendations:  Wear a leash, bright clothes, and a Personal Flotation Device. Familiarize yourself with the race course. Have an emergency plan. If you don’t finish the race call the race phone! Carry a cell phone, whistle, flare, EPIRB, or flag to signal an emergency. Know basic first aid and CPR. The race will be a beach start at Marshall's, jungle rules to the finish so you can go inside or outside the reef, and finish in the water at the outermost piling at Kahala (Waialae Beach Park). The race phone and information line is 808-255-6255.  On race day check in is from 12 noon to 2:00 pm.   The pre-race briefing is at 1:30 pm.  Start time is 1:00 pm for all paddlers.

Take Kalanianaole Highway east to the Hawaii Kai boat ramp. Beach registration and check in will be in the small parking area on the west (Ewa) side of the bath house at the M2O finish.
