Sunday, Aug 31: The Kalamalka Crossing
8:00am – Pre-Race Meeting/Check in at Start line in Oyama (Wood Lake)
9:00am – Start for all 12’ & Under Surfboard style / Junior Athletes (14-18)
9:20am – Start for all 12’6 & Under Displacement boards
9:30am – Start for all 14’ Displacement boards
12:00pm – Awards Presentations for King & Queen of Kalamalka and Open Classes on the beach.

PFD NOTICE - A Canadian Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Device (PFD) is required in order to participate in the Kalamalka Crossing and Recreational Race.  It can either worn or attached to your board

** SUNDAY SHUTTLE SERVICE TO OYAMA - If you need to get your board there for the start on Sunday, sign up on Saturday during the day.

KING AND QUEEN OF KALAMALKA
($$ Prize Money Class $$)
To qualify for the title of the King and Queen of Kalamalka, you have to compete in both the WikiHolo Short Course and Kalamalka Crossing Long Course.  To become the King or Queen, it will require strength, speed, skill and strategy. Points will be added across the two events with the Kalamalka Crossing serving as the tie-breaker.

Events included for overall title: 

  • WikiHolo
  • Kalamalka Crossing (14' for Men, 12'6 for Women)

Points System:
1st - 10 pts, 2nd - 8 pts, 3rd - 7 pts, 4th - 6 pts, 5th and below – 5 pts
- Tie Breaker: Kalamalka Crossing finish  If two athletes who are in contention for the title are tied in points after both events, the athlete with the highest placing in the Kalamalka Crossing will be the winner.

King and Queen Overall Title Cash Purse Payout:
King of Kalamalka: $500 for overall winner
Queen of Kalamalka: $500 for overall winner

EAGLE DASH (2.5 Mile Circuit): Open/Recreational - All boards
Saturday, August 30
Short Course race for recreational athletes of all ages and levels.  Easy going short course in and around the North end of Kalamalka lake.  You’ll pass by the famous Eagle Nest at Bishops Bird Sanctuary and blaze a watery trail with other like-minded recreational paddlers. Sure there are prizes but it’s more about the fun than the famous.  Prizes for Male, Female and Tandem. All boards welcome.

Who Should Enter? New and beginner paddlers who are looking to get some exercise in a friendly, mildly competitive environment.  Open to individuals or Tandem (Teams of Two on the same board)

WIKI HOLO: (Short Course) Competitive, Open & Junior
Saturday, August 30
Divided into two or more heats, you’ll sprint from the beach and onto your board around a short buoy-riddled course (qualifying laps will include a beach run between laps).  It’s a spectator-friendly event that serves up exciting head-to-head competition.  Part 1 of the King & Queen of Kalamalka for the competitive racers.

Board Sizes:
King & Queen:  Kings: Any board 14' or shorter / Queens: 12'6 or shorter
Open:  12'6 & Under

Who Should Enter? Anyone who wants to be a part a spectator-friendly event.  It's all about the beach start and how quickly you can get around those dang buoys.  Expect to be heckled!

KEIKI HOLO: 400 Yard short course for Kids, 13 & Under
Saturday, August 30 - Following the WikiHolo Finals  (Any board 1o'6 in length or shorter)
Here's a fun event for the kids - They all leave the beach at the same time and paddle around the inner buoys in shallow area for fun and prizes.

Who Should Enter? All kids 13 & Under.  Medals for top 3, stickers for all

NAISH N1SCO CUP TEAM RELAY: Open to everyone - Mixed teams of four & Teams of Two (Parent and child)
Saturday, August 30   *(Naish One Inflatable Race Boards supplied)
Prizes for top Team!  Costumes encouraged.
Teams of four will form on the beach and prepare for a fun event going head-to-head with other teams.  Teams of four must have at least one male per team. Winning teams get a valuable prize pack and one lucky winner will..... (to be announced on the day)

EVENING DINNER & SOCIAL - To be announced

KALAMALKA CROSSING  - The Classic event - Open to everyone
Sunday, August 31 - 9am (South to North)
One of Canada’s most iconic bucket list SUP Races - The Kalamalka Crossing.   A scenic 10-mile trek across the full length of the lake.  Starting in Oyama on Wood Lake Beach, you'll dash from the beach around a buoy and then through the channel that connects the two lakes heading North towards Kal Beach.  Do it for the exercise, for the challenge, or race it to beat the clock. Part 2 of the King and Queen of Kalamalka.

Kaloya Crossover Cancelled.  Regular course.

Who Should Enter?  This is one of the most amazing distance races in the world so everyone should do it.  We hope to have more than 150 paddlers cross this year and you should stand up and be counted!
