COURSE MAP

Goat Boater Race Series #1 of 6 - The 5 K.

Race 1: The 5K. This is by far the most common local paddleboard race distance.

We will start at Windjammer beach with a water start, make a sweeping right turn around Windjammer island and move across the channel to hug the left side of the shore. Make a 180 degree right pivot turn at the half way point around the monster red buoy and follow the same course back. You will be required to make a last left hand 90 degree turn around the starting buoy to make your way to the beach for a short running beach finish

All Goat Boater Races are capped at 60 racers and this is a SUP only event.

Windjammer offers great views for you and your family to watch the race and enjoy some beautiful views of Lake Wylie. The Goat Boater Race series in unique in many ways. Most notably our 1 mile social paddle directly after the race for all paddlers and guests.

Testimonial: "Full disclaimer- I am 62 this is only my second year of racing and I get severe pre race pre meeting new people jitters. I participated in the Goat Boater Race series 2021- Megan and Rob embrace the spirit of SUP- all who come are welcome - these values are also evident in their race team. There were so many different participants from elite athletes, to families tandem racing, to people new to the sport and/ or racing. It is fun- serious fun during the race- but fun. The racers cheer each other on - even to the last one coming in - I could feel the positive energy of the group. There is a social paddle after the race - a fun way to get to know each other - get tips- and try other equipment out. Megan and Rob are very knowledgable and can help you navigate the different board types if you are ready to move to a race board (or new race board), Race conditions are closely monitored, there are plenty of safety lookouts so those new to paddling in moving water can feel well protected. There is clear communication to participants which I appreciate pre race day and prior to the race start. If one is an experienced SUP racer or a novice there is a place for all in the Goat Boater Series."
