Island Paddle is hosting its third annual Paddle

Race series in one of Galveston Island’s most premier beach parks - East Beach!   Due to popular demand, G-bay (Galveston Bay) paddle race has moved to the beach side!  Island Paddle's Ocean Fest will feature both a Stand Up Paddle and Kayak / Canoe race open to everyone from a beginner to a seasoned pro.  Ocean Fest is in collaboration with Galveston Island's Beach Patrol Lifeguard beach fest - where lifeguards compete in different obstacles to qualify for the National Lifesaving Association Championships. This is a great opportunity to see these lifeguards in action and to respect what these hero's do on a regular basis. This family friendly event is FREE to the public (beach parking will apply).

A percentage

of all proceeds from the race will be benefiting the Mauli Ola

Foundation  (MOF), which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope and confidence to individuals living with genetic diseases. Harnessing the healing powers of the ocean, the MOF introduces surfing as a natural therapy.

Races will be held in

East Beach with the Galveston Island Beach Patrol in the water

during the races AT ALL TIMES to ensure the safety of all competitors.  Various members of the Island Paddle team are CPR certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life

Support (PALS). NOTE: All Races are Non-Sanctioned

SUP & Kayak / Canoe 5K Race

This can be

a recreational paddle or a competition between you and your friends!  SUP categories are divided between board

sizes and gender.  Kayak / Canoe vessels

can be single or multiple occupancy, only 1 registration needed per vessel.

SUP & Kayak / Canoe Dash for Cash

This straight sprint

course (approx. 500 yards) was made for the adrenaline junkies!  Test your paddling skills in this fast and

furious course that is sure to be a crowd favorite!  All registered participants from the 5K race can join in on the fun – FREE of charge!  

Disclaimer:  Weather and water conditions on the Gulf Coast change rapidly. There are many factors that can cause a beach side paddle race to be considered "un-safe". Torrential rain, rough water conditions and hurricanes are a few examples. For this reason, we have limited the time-span to register for the paddle races. The Galveston Island Beach Patrol reserves the right to cancel or modify the race at any time. All decisions made by the Galveston Island Beach Patrol are final.

            Men’s and Women’s 5K SUP 14’ (all boards 14' and above) - 1st, 2nd, 3rd

            Men’s

and Women’s 5K SUP 12’6” (all boards 12'6 - under 14') - 1st, 2nd, 3rd

            Men’s and Women’s 5K SUP Unlimited (all boards under 12'6) - 1st, 2nd, 3rd 

(All) Canoe / Kayak 5K Unlimited - 1st, 2nd, 3rd

            ** Dash-For-Cash SUP **  (FREE optional race) - 1st only

            ** Dash-For-Cash Kayak & Canoe ** (FREE optional race) - 1st only

Dash for

Cash winner will be awarded to the 1st place SUP & Kayak / Canoe finisher in all

paddle craft classes & genders combined.
