SUP Sarasota is producing the Sarasota SUP Race Series to promote the healthy lifestyle of Stand Up Paddleboarding at three of Sarasota County's most beautiful Parks. Siesta Key Beach, Lake Benderson Park and Sarasota Sailor Squadron. It is the goal of SUP Sarasota to make the Coastal Waterways of Sarasota County a national destination for Stand Up Paddleboarding.

The Venue:

Located on City Island in Sarasota between St. Armand's Key and Longboat Key, the Sarasota Sailing Squadron is one of the most picturesque locations on the West Coast of Florida. We chose it as our Season Ending Race Site because of it's laid back atmosphere and positioning in the middle of several well paddled routes around Sarasota Bay. We had lots of options for courses and chose the one that is beautiful and poses a challenge yet gives our racers the most buffering from possible adverse weather conditions during this time of year. And it makes for an easy day for the competitor... You can pull up, drop off your boards, check in, hang out in the shade, look out onto the course from one of the four docks on the property, do your race, hang out, watch the kids race, listen to live music, have some lunch, have a beer, check out vendor tents, demo a board or other SUP equipment....all are centrally located on this cozy peninsula. You'll love it!!!

Elite 10 K Races

Men's and Women's 12.6, 14 and Unlimited Divisions, Over 50 Divisions in Men's 12.6 and 14's, Junior Boy's and Girls 12.6 Division.

Men's, Women's and Junior Boys and Girls Race Board and Stock Surf SUP Divisions

 - Race Boards are 12.6 feet in length with displacement hulls

 - Stock Surf SUP's are under 12 feet in length

Kids 1 K Races

Under 14 years of age Boy's and Girls 1/2 Mile Course around the Mooring Field of the Sailing Squadron

- Designed as a safe and controlled course for Junior Boy and Girl paddlers who are SUP newbies.

- Boys and Girls Race Board and Stock Surf SUP Divisions. No times given, just places.

SUP Cross Sprint Races

Men's, Women's and Junior Divisions

- Sign Up On Site after Distance Races

- Heats of 4 Racers competing on the same board and using the same paddle (Boga Surf SUP and Riviera Carbon Paddle) maneuvering a short course of winding buoy turns. Fast and furious, no rules, just right!!

- Winner of each Heat advances to the next round.

*Awards given to top three finishers in each division. 3 Racers must enter into a Division for awards to be given.  

Children "Kids Paddle":

We, as members of the SUP Community would like to share the experience of bonding with our natural surroundings out on the water with our local special needs children. Waterman give back...and we are asking for racers who wish to stick around after the awards ceremony to pair with a child and show them what it is to be up and out on the water. To see, if only for a brief time, why we are so hooked on this sport! I think they will enjoy it as much as we do!!
